This Week in Mexico Part 2

We were driving home from Colima the other day and saw this!! It is one of many volcanoes in the area, but is the first time our view has been so clear. And notice the mountain peak behind it. That is snow!! 

Funny how much difference a few miles can make. Just a few minutes later we were driving in this. 

We were headed to Tuxpan to visit the missionaries there.

This man greeted us as we entered the town. 

Back in Guadalajara . . . everything is taking on the look of Christmas.

Poinsettias are native to Mexico and you can even find poinsettia plants growing in people's yards.

Only here they are called "Noche Buenas"(Another name for Christmas Eve)

Most our neighbors have also decorated their yards with them. I love seeing them all around. It is such a beautiful sight to see. 

This is also in our neighborhood. This nativity is huge! And whenever I see it I think of the song, "O Come All Ye Faithful." I really enjoy that there are nativity scenes everywhere here. 

With all the Christmas decorations, we decided we needed to do some Christmas shopping so we headed to Tonala for market day. 

Here is a very cool bridge you pass over in Guadalajara

This was in the parking lot where we parked. I love this picture. I thought it looked so quaintly Mexican. 

 Every Thursday and Sunday the main street in Tonala becomes a street market. Everyone brings out their wares and buyers from all over the world come to purchase items to sell in their stores. 

Some of it is just junk, but other stuff is really fun.

And you have to love the colors!

We really had a good time for the little while we were there. 

And we even found some fun things to buy!

Next week are the Christmas parties so by the end of the week I will have pictures of that.  Also--since I have had several mothers write to ask . . . any package that is received before the Christmas party next week will be delivered the day of the party. If it comes after next Tuesday, however, it will be delivered after the new year. I am sorry about that, but there is no way to get the mail out between those two times.
