Senior Missionary Training!

Yesterday we celebrated the fourth of July with very good friends--our senior missionary couples!!

The three couples who work with us in our mission, along with the Smiths, a couple who work in the office, came to the mission home for lunch. We had BBQ chicken, dutch oven potatoes with bacon, a green salad, and avocado, black bean dip with chips. For dessert we had a very scrumptious chocolate cake.

Following our lunch we all headed to the temple for an early evening session. Here we are standing in front of the temple (waiting for the rain to abate). Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of the Smiths as well since they were inside working. And sorry the picture is a little blurry. I just had my cell phone.

That evening we went back to our house where we had a light supper and visited for hours. I think it was great to share experiences. It is always nice to know you aren't going through challenges alone.:-)

This morning we ate breakfast and then had an hour of study time with President Wagner that was wonderful. Following our study time we jumped in the car and headed out to Guachimontones, an archaeological site with round pyramids about an hour out of town. We went last December with our kids and loved it, but it was all brown then. This time everything was green and incredibly beautiful.

Here is a picture of the little town near the site. I love this!! It is so quaint with the church and the lake.

A picture of the ball field.

And here is one of our couples playing a rousing game of whatever the game was called that they played on these ball fields. :-)

This is a picture of the main pyramid at the site--or at least the largest one that has been excavated so far. It is surrounded by 10 platforms that also form a circle around the pyramid.
We prayed for good weather, as it can get rather toasty during the summer, and our prayers were answered. It was a great cloudy day. Perhaps not the best day for taking pictures, but a great day for walking around outside. The large mountain in the back is Tequila Volcano.

I love this picture!! It looks like everyone is posing for the cover of a boy band CD! Obviously we have some pretty cool senior missionaries!!

So of course by the end of our trip we were in need of more nourishment, so we headed to a very cute seafood restaurant near the mission home.  Here we had a delicious meal .. .

And got the royal treatment. All the women were given a long stemmed red rose!!
We had a super fun two days and loved being with our senior couples!! As you can see we have a lot of fun--so if anyone would like to join us, we would love to have you!!

  2. esto es un gran ejemplo que nuestros matrimonios mayores están mejor en la misión sirviendo al Señor que en sus casas padeciendo dolores o sentados viendo la tv.
